"Awaken Your Body" by Danielle Armour, Ph.D.

Daddies and Mommies like to have their "Alone Time". It's gets harder when there are children in the house. It's not impossible if the kids are home, but you need to be more careful about it.

What is Blocking your Intimacy?

There can be other things that get in the way of intimacy. These things can be physical or psychological. They can be your body, your nervous system trying to protect you because of past experiences you have had.

When it feels like there is something blocking you from intimacy, some women will try to force their way through it. There is no "One Size Fits All" solution when it comes to sexual dysfunction. Many women will look for answers, but they will try to rush the process, hoping for a "quick fix". One of the common problems with the "solutions" is that they don't look at the person as a whole.

Danielle Armour and her Book

This is where Danielle Armour comes in. Danielle has written "Awaken Your Body, Awaken Your Desire". It is a book for women who are feeling stressed out and pressured to perform in the bedroom. The book uses science to help alleviate stress and treat the problems women face when it comes to intimacy.

One of the most important things about Danielle's book is it reminds women that they are not the "problem". Sometimes you just need to take a step back from the rigors of daily life and allow yourself to relax. "Awaken your Body" works to dismiss the dismissive routine, predictable responses and excuses that come when women express their self-doubt. Responses like, "It's all in your head," won't help. It tells her that she is making more out of something than she needs to. There is a problem, but it's not in her head. It's somewhere else. This is where Danielle and her book comes in to help her identify the problem and solve it. Other responses like, "Have a glass of wine," suggest that people think you are too wound up from a bad day, and you just need to relax.

“Studies showed that yoga increased genital blood flow, reduced stress, enhanced interoception (the ability to sense internal body sensations), and improved sexual function.”

A Possible Solution, but it Takes Work

In an email, Danielle reminds people, "This is not a 'Fix your life in five steps' kind of book. It's a bold body-based guide for women who feel disconnected from pleasure, burdened by stress, or shut down by pain."

Danielle's book looks at all possible solutions to help women in their quest to feel healthy and whole. While something like "Just have a glass of wine," may not be the answer a woman is looking for, Danielle understands that it can be beneficial to just sit down occasionally, have a glass of wine (or whatever it is you drink), and take a little time for yourself.

The book attempts to establish a new framework. Standard practices in the past sought to treat sexual dysfunction, but as "Awaken Your Desire" states, "They treat parts of the issue... but often ignore the embodied experience of pleasure, connection and safety."

"This isn't just another book about sexual health. It's an interactive guide meant to help you take action and see real results." - Awaken Your Body Awaken Your Desire

One effective method can be yoga. Studies cited in "Awaken Your Body" show that "...yoga... reduced stress, enhanced interoception..., and improved sexual function." Danielle reminds her readers desire is nurtured by safety and self-connection, among other things.

If you have been looking for a solution to your intimacy problems and issues, this could be the right book for you. "Awaken Your Body" looks at the different symptoms of the problems women face, the potential root of those problems, and various solutions that you can employ. There are multiple written exercises to help you on your journey to find out what it is that is causing your problems and preventing you from the desire and satisfaction you deserve. Aside from the written exercises, there are also exercises and meditation routines to complement the advice and suggested solutions for the reader. It's not easy going through these problems alone, and you shouldn't have to. "Awaken Your Body" is here to help you on your way to feeling better, on your way to feeling whole.
