Book Review: Future Focused Wealth by Melissa Cox

Image
My grandfather once said to me, "Don't work for your money, let your money work for you." It became advice that has stayed with me ever since. We won't always be physically able to work, and at some point in our lives we will need to downshift physical efforts. Take it from someone who loaded trucks in the middle of the night, physical labor will catch up to you. "Your future self is out there, waving at you frantically from 20 to 30 years down the road, hoping you don’t forget about them." - "Future Focused Wealth" Younger people should start saving their money as soon as they can. There are plenty of options out there and the electronic advantages we have today make it easier to get started on that road. As tempting as it is to buy a nice handbag, new shoes, or upgrade your cell phone, there are more advantages to downgrading that next purchase and putting your money away for that proverbial "rainy day". Trust me, you will find a lot of...

"Awaken Your Body" by Danielle Armour, Ph.D.

Daddies and Mommies like to have their "Alone Time". It's gets harder when there are children in the house. It's not impossible if the kids are home, but you need to be more careful about it. What is Blocking your Intimacy? There can be other things that get in the way of intimacy. These things can be physical or psychological. They can be your body, your nervous system trying to protect you because of past experiences you have had. When it feels like there is something blocking you from intimacy, some women will try to force their way through it. There is no "One Size Fits All" solution when it comes to sexual dysfunction. Many women will look for answers, but they will try to rush the process, hoping for a "quick fix". One of the common problems with the "solutions" is that they don't look at the person as a whole. Danielle Armour and her Book This is where Danielle Armour comes in. Danielle has written "Awaken Your Body, Awak...

"Live Boldly" by Dominic Gentile for Advice, Life Lessons

Image
Life is full of up, downs, pitfalls, and roadblocks. Many times it can be tempting to look for and take an easy way out. Our days are filled with jobs, tasks, and duties. Sometimes we meet people along the way who will help us and ease our burdens. Sometimes we meet people who only make things difficult. Nobody has all of the answers, but if we meet and talk to the right people, we can get some advice and counsel when things get tough. For me, my grandfather was one of those people who was able to bestow some advice when I needed it. My grandfather was one of "The Greatest Generation". He served in the navy during World War II. Upon returning to civilian life, he became a police officer and worked his way up to narcotics detective. My grandfather retired, moved to Florida, and grew blueberries. He did a lot of things with his life, including writing a book . As you get older, you do and see things. These things will give you knowledge, wisdom, and perspective. You want to p...

The Go Go Singing Sound Book Series

Image
photo:  gogofunlearning.com I have been reading to my children for years. It started simple, with a short book that had more illustrations than text. As my children got older, the books would become longer. The Boy has moved on to chapter books. We have read "Treasure Island" and are in the middle of "Robinson Crusoe" . As much as he likes it, he is looking forward to wrapping that up so we can move on the latest "Dog Man" installment. Reading to my children is something I've always enjoyed, first with The Oppressed and now with The Boy. The Boy and I don't always agree on what our next selection will be, but it's still nice for me to spend a little time with him at night before we go to bed and prep for the next day. As both of them grew up, I would try to get them to read a little to me. It was my own way of teaching them to read and get some practice for when they would be reading on their own. Go Go can Teach your Child Every parent has ...

"Somewhere Along the Line" by Mallory Thomas

Daddies and Mommies do all kinds of things to make ends meet, and some have an easier time of doing it than others. In order to make those ends meet, people work. Sometimes you drive or walk to work. Sometimes you take public transportation. All means of getting to work have their advantages and disadvantages. Taking public transportation means saving on gas and parking. It can also mean not fighting traffic jams. If you're lucky, you can find a "train friend" who can help you pass the time on your commute. Sometimes that "train friend" could be a connection that goes beyond a train ride. I know people who started as "train friends" and ended up married! Riding the Subway If you can't find a "train friend", there are other ways to pass the time. When I was in college, a train ride meant a chance to catch up on some reading for a class. You could also work on a crossword puzzle or just listen to some music. Put some buds in your phones an...

Finding the Strength to leave an Abusive Relationship

Anna's Tale Relationships are a lot of work. Things don't always go smoothly and there are always bumps on the proverbial road. Life happens. That's a fact of life. Sometimes, people need to work together in order for things to work, and sometimes things don't work out because of personal demons. A personal demon that can sink a relationship is addiction. There are some couples that can work through things, but there are also times when the baggage and the stress become too much for a couple to bear and the relationship breaks under the weight. Anna's Tale J.T. Garza, an indie author out of Austin, Texas, has written a book about a relationship that is struggling to maintain its foundation. J.T. has written "Online Fan Shadows of Passion: Anna's Tale" . "Anna" is Anna Fitzgerald, an OnlyFans model who is in a relationship with Casey. Casey is originally charming, but he soon becomes controlling of Anna. While he tries to control his girlfrien...

Our Child and the Healthy Obsession

Image
"Harry Potter". A former obsession.  The Oppressed has moved on to other things, but she still has a place in her  heart for J.K. Rowling's creation. Parents know what it's like when their child discovers something new. It can last for a week, or a few years. Either way, your child's obsession will be something everyone at home will know about. If you're a parent, at one point your child has had an obsession with something; a movie, a book, a fictional character. It may even be a food that your child had to eat every day. Sometimes it's alright to indulge your cherub in that which gives them great joy. Other times, especially in cases of food, you need to step in and limit what they think they need every day. The World of Percy Jackson My youngest daughter is no different. Our dear little tween has discovered the world of Percy Jackson and his books. I'm not quite sure how she came across this treasury, but she did. I'm glad her obsession is rea...
