Book Review: Future Focused Wealth by Melissa Cox

My grandfather once said to me, "Don't work for your money, let your money work for you." It became advice that has stayed with me ever since. We won't always be physically able to work, and at some point in our lives we will need to downshift physical efforts. Take it from someone who loaded trucks in the middle of the night, physical labor will catch up to you. "Your future self is out there, waving at you frantically from 20 to 30 years down the road, hoping you don’t forget about them." - "Future Focused Wealth" Younger people should start saving their money as soon as they can. There are plenty of options out there and the electronic advantages we have today make it easier to get started on that road. As tempting as it is to buy a nice handbag, new shoes, or upgrade your cell phone, there are more advantages to downgrading that next purchase and putting your money away for that proverbial "rainy day". Trust me, you will find a lot of...

Daddies and Mommies like to have their "Alone Time". It's gets harder when there are children in the house. It's not impossible if the kids are home, but you need to be more careful about it. What is Blocking your Intimacy? There can be other things that get in the way of intimacy. These things can be physical or psychological. They can be your body, your nervous system trying to protect you because of past experiences you have had. When it feels like there is something blocking you from intimacy, some women will try to force their way through it. There is no "One Size Fits All" solution when it comes to sexual dysfunction. Many women will look for answers, but they will try to rush the process, hoping for a "quick fix". One of the common problems with the "solutions" is that they don't look at the person as a whole. Danielle Armour and her Book This is where Danielle Armour comes in. Danielle has written "Awaken Your Body, Awak...

"Live Boldly" by Dominic Gentile for Advice, Life Lessons

Life is full of up, downs, pitfalls, and roadblocks. Many times it can be tempting to look for and take an easy way out. Our days are filled with jobs, tasks, and duties. Sometimes we meet people along the way who will help us and ease our burdens. Sometimes we meet people who only make things difficult. Nobody has all of the answers, but if we meet and talk to the right people, we can get some advice and counsel when things get tough. For me, my grandfather was one of those people who was able to bestow some advice when I needed it. My grandfather was one of "The Greatest Generation". He served in the navy during World War II. Upon returning to civilian life, he became a police officer and worked his way up to narcotics detective. My grandfather retired, moved to Florida, and grew blueberries. He did a lot of things with his life, including writing a book . As you get older, you do and see things. These things will give you knowledge, wisdom, and perspective. You want to p...

"The Murder at Whispering Pines" by Lai Holmes

When I am travelling to see friends and family, I usually take a detour through one of my old neighborhoods or past an old school or job. A simple drive home from somewhere usually becomes hours-long, much to the chagrin of my children. Certainly I'm not the only one who passes through a place that was once a routine in their previous life. Some people leave and never look back because they don't need to. They lived that part of their life and they don't need to visit that part of the past any longer. Not me. I go back and visit the ghosts every chance I get. There are times when people need to go back to an old neighborhood. Sometimes they need to pick something up from their parents or, in a worst-case-scenario, a relative has died and something needs to be picked up. Unfortunately, there may be a time when you have to go back to the old neighborhood to take care of some business, usually after the loss of a loved one. Murder at Whispering Pines Lai Holmes has written ...

Dads and Moms, no doubt, had a plan earlier in their lives. Maybe they were able to stick with it, maybe an unforeseen event caused a detour. this detour may have led them to a different destination, or maybe it was just a temporary detour before they get back on their original track. There are a number of things that can cause these detours. It can be a gap year in college. It can be going back to your hometown to tie up loose ends after the death of a loved one. It could be a business trip, maybe trying to land a new client or checking up on a satellite office. Whatever the reason, there are issues that will pop up in life that will require attention and sometimes it will be something that cannot wait. "Murder and Manuscripts" Murder & Manuscripts Isabel Fleming is a woman who is faced with a detour. Isabel is the main character of Nora Bardin's "Murder & Manuscripts" . She is an editor based in New York who inherits her Aunt Louise's bookstore in...

"Stolen Secrets" by Denise Diana Huddle

I have written about some books on this site. Most of them have been children's books. Books are great for adults to read with their kids, but what happens when the kids are gone, and you finally have a couple of moments to yourself? Do you want to read another children's book, or are you ready to read something that is geared more towards adults? "Stolen Secrets" by Denise Diana Huddle Denise Diana Huddle has worked as an oil landman and then as a private investigator specializing in the oil and gas industry. She has taken her experience in both careers to create a story about an environmentalist ranch manager, Sarah Chandler, who has her hands full with a chauvinistic tool pusher and a fire on the land she's in charge of. Her book, "Stolen Secrets" , is the first of her "Deadly Secrets Texas Trilogy". Ranch manager Chandler begrudgingly works with Ethan Tanner, a retired special forces officer working as landman for the White Stag Oil Compan...
