"Puppy Tales: Hello, Baby" by Gigi O'Dea

Our family has had more adventures with our dog than we care to remember. Some memories involve a trip to the vet . Sometimes Puppy finds something she wasn't supposed to eat in the backyard or she'll help herself to some human food conveniently within her reach. Puppy spends most of her time with Lovie, who has told us the dog is her child. Puppy sleeps in her room. This is fine with Kitty, who tries to avoid puppy and her games of chase and wrestling. Puppy's abundant energy can be a lot for the family. Lucky for us, we have a fenced-in backyard that gives her room to run around. If time permits, I'll take her to a local dog park where she can expend more energy. If she's lucky, there will be other dogs in the park for her to play with. Caring for Pets and Children Shh! Our Pets. A Cat and a Dog

 Our house is filled with tiny, innocent creatures. Some have two legs, some have four. Each of these little treasures bring their own joys and challenges. You've read plenty about the challenges posed by the humans. You've also read about the adventures that come with the animals (the four-legged ones). Here's a little more about the pets in our happy home. Kitty Our cat came first. We got her about five years ago and kept her in what was the office at the time. She was a kitten, and we didn't want her to feel overwhelmed by seeing the entire house. She had a little cat apartment, and Kitty was content to sleep on the "top floor" of the apartment and walk around the room, seeing what was there and meowing "Hello" to anyone who dropped by to check on her. There was an anxious moment when we first got Kitty. I was cooking dinner one night and I happened to set off the smoke alarm as I normally do when cooking. (Side note: I don't burn anything. Th...
