"Skibidi Ohio Rizz" by T.M. Daliggr
Slang is an ever-evolving, ever-changing thing. The jive and trash people talked back then isn't the same as what kids are down with today. Sometimes, it seems as if it would be very easy for our children to discuss something sinister or "sus" right in front of us and we would have no idea what they were talking about.
Every Generation has a Language
Growing up my friends and I had our own language and lexicon. Some things we said were widely recognized by everyone our age across the country, and some things we said were just things that were made up among ourselves, sometimes from something funny on a particular day or an event that still stays with us.
Having children in my house gives me a front-row seat to the ever changing words and phrases that make up the conversations kids have. Wife and I don't exactly understand everything they are saying. Sometimes they explain what they're saying, and sometimes they just laugh and call me a "Boomer". I have to remind them I'm not a Boomer. I'm Gen-X.
Don't Want to be Basic?
You're likely to have this book for one of three reasons:
- You're old, and someone decided to prank you.
- You're young, and someone is trying to tell you that they can't understand you.
- You bought this for yourself, which is kind of weird.
- "Skibidi Ohio Rizz: The Gen Alpha and Gen Z Dictionary"
If there's something you're not understanding from your children's mouths, T.M. Daliggr has written a book that can help you. Daliggr has written "Skibidi Ohio Rizz: the Gen Alpha and Gen Z Dictionary". This book features over 100 examples of slang used today to help you better understand the drivel and balderdash that is verbalized by the Miracles of Christ under your roof.
The book doesn't have terms and definitions alone, but it also has quizzes at different parts of the book so you can see how well you remember the slang and its meaning. Who knows? Maybe after reading this book, you will be able to experience a glow up with your comprehension of what is being said. Your children will be surprised and you may have your own gyatt moment.
As fun as this book was to read, I am proud to say I have a bit of a handle on the language spoken by children today. Just look at the way I finessed a reel at work showing off my bussin' skills. No cap!
You'll Learn to Understand your Kids
This dictionary is an interesting, well-written read. Some of the words I had already heard, and some were new to me. I can honestly say my kids were able to verify a word and it's meaning when I asked them. There were some words that were classified as a noun when I thought it should have been a verb or adjective, but maybe that was just the writer/editor in me. That being said, one thing I would have liked from this book is that if the terms were alphabetical. It would be easier for daddies and mommies to look something up if one of their little darlings said something that was beyond their understanding. The way this book is set up, it's hard to look for a certain word when everything is entered in randomly.Like the way our children speak, this book will make you laugh. There are words that will make you scratch your head, there are words that might make you raise your eyebrows. There will also be words that will make you wonder how they came to be. Honestly, it's no different when our parents questioned the use of "radical" and their parents questioned the use of "groovy".
