Stellwagen Beer and Events

It's no secret this daddy likes his beer. Although I have my favorites, I also like to try out new beers, especially local ones. It's important for me to support local businesses and help the small businesses pay their people, who are also local.

One day while happily living my life, I came across the Stellwagen Beer Company from Marshfield, MA, the home of the Talking Information Center. In addition to offering locally brewed beer, they also host a lot of events for people to check out while enjoying a beer. Beer by itself can be fun, but when more fun is being offered in addition to the beer, it borders on exciting.

News about Stellwagen and the events it would be hosting reached my social media. I had never heard of the brewery, but I was intrigued at what was happening on its grounds, as well as the beer. I dropped by a store that I knew I could count on for locally made beer.

I tried Stellwagen's Jurassic Dark. This is a dark beer that isn't too bitter. It's also not overpowering at 4.5%. You can enjoy a few of these and still be able to function. It's smooth; something I wasn't expecting from this lager. There is a roasted flavor to this, and the chocolate and coffee notes mentioned in the beer's profile aren't overpowering. This is a good beer, and it's one I would definitely like to try again.

Events at Stellwagen

There's a lot happening at this Marshfield brewery. There is trivia every Thursday night starting at 7:00. For St. Patrick's Day Weekend, Stellwagen is kicking off the festivities with a pre-race party for the 14th Annual Marshfield St. Patrick's Day 5k on Friday night. The race, benefitting the Marshfield Education Foundation, starts Saturday morning at 10:00 and is followed by an after-party (6:00) featuring music from DJ Sprino. On March 17th, John Demers will play St. Paddy's Day music for all the beer lovers in attendance on this great Irish holiday. There will also be raffles, food, and special drinks available throughout this weekend. More information can be found at Stellwagen's website.
