"The Magic of Flutterville" by Jon Spillman

Daddies and mommies are busy making sure our Miracles of Christ are healthy and taken care of. Part of making sure they are healthy is taking care of their teeth. When I was home with The Oppressed and The Boy, I would make sure they brushed their teeth. The Oppressed would get excited when I told her it was time to brush her teeth. She would run to the bathroom, excited for that time of day.

Now that they are older, it is more on them to make sure they do what they need to do to make sure their chompers are clean and in good condition. My role in their dental hygiene has diminished significantly, although I'm still responsible for getting them to the dentist, it's mostly them brushing their teeth and making sure everything is hygienically sound.

As children grow up, they will lose some teeth. It's natural and perfectly normal for boys and girls to lose some baby teeth and have them replaced with permanent teeth. When this happens, the baby teeth are usually left under the pillow for the Tooth Fairy, who visits overnight and takes the tooth, leaving a little cash under the pillow for the young lad or lass to find in the morning.

"The Magic of Flutterville"
There are lots of legends and tales surrounding the Tooth Fairy and what happens to the teeth that are taken in the middle of the night. Jon Spillman is now offering his proverbial two cents on what happens when the Tooth Fairy visits with his new book, "Hi, Tooth Fairy: The Magic of Flutterville". In his book, Jon talks about the tooth fairies (Yes, there are more than one.) that live in the town of Flutterville. The fairies leave town in the middle of the night and collect teeth from the children who lost them. Those teeth are found under pillows and taken back to Flutterville. What happens when those teeth? Well, it's in the book. Check it out for yourself!

I'll tell you this: The teeth play an important part for Flutterville and its citizens. The teeth are cleaned one last time using the magic and technology of the fairies who work in Flutterville. Your children's teeth play an important part for the entire town and keep it running and busy!

Lost Teeth Meant Money!

My brother with a missing tooth.
The Tooth Fairy is coming!

I remember losing my first tooth, finally getting to use the tooth pillow I received earlier in life. The lost tooth went into the tooth pillow and I went to sleep. When I woke up, the tooth had been replaced by money. It's an event that was soon experience by my brother and then my sister. A lost tooth meant the Tooth Fairy was going to visit.

As time went on, the Tooth Fairy came to visit my children. Thankfully, the Tooth Fairy was quiet and didn't disturb the little Miracles of Christ while they were sleeping. The kids were excited when they woke up and found some money under their pillows. They loved telling Wife and I about the exciting find on those mornings.

The Tooth Fairy played an important part in keeping teeth healthy at my house. Brushing their teeth reminded the children that keeping their teeth healthy was important if they wanted to be able to keep their teeth until it was time for the permanent teeth to come in. When the baby teeth came out, they knew they had done a good job with the teeth and everything was ready for the permanent teeth to come in.

Dental Hygiene for Older Children

Our children are older now. The Tooth Fairy doesn't visit anymore, but the habits we tried to instill with our children have taken hold. Our kids brush their teeth daily, and we get good reports from the dentist when it's time for our visits. The Oppressed and The Boy are older now. We have entered the exciting, lucrative world of braces! (By lucrative, I don't mean for us.) It's a fun time. The children love it because it means a brief respite from school. So far, everything seems to be going well with the braces and the teeth they support.

If children are stumping you with questions about the Tooth Fairy, check out Jon's book. There is a creative story about lost teeth and how important they are to the people of Flutterville. Your kids don't realize it, but they are helping a lot of happy fairies.
