Slang is an ever-evolving, ever-changing thing. The jive and trash people talked back then isn't the same as what kids are down with today. Sometimes, it seems as if it would be very easy for our children to discuss something sinister or "sus" right in front of us and we would have no idea what they were talking about. Every Generation has a Language Growing up my friends and I had our own language and lexicon. Some things we said were widely recognized by everyone our age across the country, and some things we said were just things that were made up among ourselves, sometimes from something funny on a particular day or an event that still stays with us. Having children in my house gives me a front-row seat to the ever changing words and phrases that make up the conversations kids have. Wife and I don't exactly understand everything they are saying. Sometimes they explain what they're saying, and sometimes they just laugh and call me a "Boomer". I have t...

Keeping your child healthy is not always easy. Daddies and mommies do everything they can for their little ones, but things happen. Especially when our little darlings are out of the house. While we have them in our sights, we do what we can. We cook or prepare healthy foods, we child-proof our homes when they are learning how to walk. Children have helmets when they are out on their bikes or skateboards. If your child is anything like The Boy, then he or she is a little daredevil and you are dying 1,000 deaths as they practice jumps on their bike, swinging off tree branches, or just tearing around in general, seeing if they have more lives than a cat. Sometimes, an affliction isn't from reckless disregard. Unfortunately, children are sometimes born with something that will affect their health. You want to do everything you can to make sure your little Miracle of Christ is well. Sometimes the problem requires professional help, and you must seek that. Take Care of Your Eyes Eyes ar...

Dads and Moms, no doubt, had a plan earlier in their lives. Maybe they were able to stick with it, maybe an unforeseen event caused a detour. this detour may have led them to a different destination, or maybe it was just a temporary detour before they get back on their original track. There are a number of things that can cause these detours. It can be a gap year in college. It can be going back to your hometown to tie up loose ends after the death of a loved one. It could be a business trip, maybe trying to land a new client or checking up on a satellite office. Whatever the reason, there are issues that will pop up in life that will require attention and sometimes it will be something that cannot wait. "Murder and Manuscripts" Murder & Manuscripts Isabel Fleming is a woman who is faced with a detour. Isabel is the main character of Nora Bardin's "Murder & Manuscripts" . She is an editor based in New York who inherits her Aunt Louise's bookstore in...

"The Clariphant and the Kazoos" by Charlotte Reavley

While I am not musically inclined, I do enjoy listening. I also enjoy going to concerts, especially concerts where my children perform. Music requires practice, and according to The University of Georgia , "studying and playing music includes benefits far beyond the mere learning of playing a musical instrument, and its ripple effects result in happier, healthier, more balanced children." Learning to play a musical instrument can have many advantages for children. It can help with their problem-solving. It can help them explore and expand their creativity. The lessons learned in music will help you later in life, and you have a skill that will make others happy and forget their cares for a little while. "The Clariphant and the Kazoos" "The Clariphant and the Kazoos" If your child is an aspiring musician, or has expressed interest in picking up a musical instrument, then Charlotte Reavley would like to help. Charlotte is a woodwind teacher from Nottinghamsh...
